1930 Stockholm

Not an international Exhibition, a national exhibition organised by the Swedish Society for Craft and Design to showcase the best in Swedish design and architecture. With Functionalism as typified by the architecture of Gunnar Asplund the site was full of the most seductive Swedish Modernism.

Promoting a socialist agenda of a better life for all through better architecture, good design and well designed environments the exhibition was intended to show the people of Sweden what they could look forward to in coming years. Hugely influential nationally and internationally the model for a National exhibition showing the good that could come from a not-too distant future if sound ideology was adhered to was borrowed for the Festival of Britain in London in 1951.

I wrote a blog post about this exhibition, click on the image of the medal to read this post or click here to read recent post.
